A poem of light

A poem of light in your tiny hands, searching and petting my face. A poem of light in your eyes, shining deep, absorbing and wise. Warm fuzzy feeling in my soul for you I’ll give my all.

Walking in this world, starting my day, it’s all very routine, very familiar, there’s nothing to explain. I have no complaints; I’m very thankful for what I have: a growing family, my perfect twin soul and too loud barking dog, yet, sometimes, routine can make you dull.

Suddenly I hear your laughter and it cleans my soul, shaking the gray everyday life off. I see the world in shining colors and feel like everything is my own, a ray of light shines upon me guiding me through, that ray of light is you.

We started this story from the end, let’s go back to the beginning, we had the most common first date at the bar drinking, one hed Guinness, the other had a colorful cocktail, 4 hours flew by without even notice. We talked about everything, common things we like and at the end of the evening we laughed about how you through your phone number at me near midnight, before your car will turn to pumpkin and the green light will turn red on the pedestrians traffic light.

Fast forward just a little bit, your ray of light is with me in my thoughts, in my dreams, shining my routine days at work, lights up the moment of coming back home and not being alone, adding a spark to every conversation and even making me planning a romantic getaway vacation.

Thank you for teaching me it doesn’t have to be dark in order to be worthy of light, that even in sunny days your light for me is shown and shining bright.

A poem of light in your tiny hands, searching and petting my face, a poem of light in your eyes, shining deep, absorbing and wise. Warm fuzzy feeling in my soul, for you I’ll give my all. Thank you for this marvelous beginning, may our future continue to shine bright, this is all I’m wishing.

Behind the song:

It’s not a shame, it’s a known fact that writing a song to some talented singer songwriters would just be a sin. Ed Sheeran and Hanan ben ari are in this ” it would be a sinful deed” list.

Who am I?! Who am I to write a song for those giants? Who am I to even try? then, at the exact same breath I answer myself:

I’m a woman who needs money in order to make her family life better and that is ladies and gentlemen how and why I allowed myself to write a song to a brilliant songwriters. I’m also planning on writing to Taylor Swift (sin, sin, quadruple sin!!!!) and amazing Lady Gaga. Obviously the mega talented list goes on but that’s enough for now.

At first I started to write this song about my son, that is why the title is “a poem of light” and why the first lines are very suitable for a baby description. Naturally just like everything else in life, it started as one thing and in a natural process became another. I originally wanted to write this song as if a future life partner is writing a song about my son, describing him and how he makes his surrounding feel but somehow while writing the second verse about everyday life I found myself describing my own family in a very specific way, AKA: “Too loud barking dog” and then I suddenly realized this song will be about me and my husband and I found myself describing our perfect first date.

I really like the result of this song and if I would like to ask you to take one thing of this song (even though there’s so much to take and I literally hold myself back now) is the line: “It doesn’t have to be dark in order to be worthy of light” It’s okay if things go well for you, it’s okay if you’re good in your expertise, your profession, your daily projects. It’s okay to go with your strengths instead of working on your weaknesses all the time. It’s okay to say you’re good at what you do, it doesn’t mean you’re stepping on someone’s toes or getting someone down. You’re good at what you do, you’re in the light and it’s more than okay.

You don’t have to be in darkness in order to be worthy of light.

Yours truly

Mrs. Songup
